I’m convinced that many of the solutions to our biggest problems can come as a result of revolution on a small scale, renovating the mundane architecture of our daily life rather than focusing solely on innovation that grabs headlines but has little practical value.
I strive to find the intersectionality of Design and Engineering. A product cannot diffuse into its target market if it’s not created by someone who embodies the thinking of an engineer and the execution of a designer.
An ending trial period in Adobe Illustrator was all it took to turn me, a curious buy, into a fervent designer. My experience with design dates back to that Grade 8 summer when I learned how to use Adobe Illustrator in a design course offered by my school. I remember vividly that the first design I made with AI was my own logo which, surprisingly, stuck with me ever since then. My logo had a mix of sharp edges and round curves, which, looking at it as a whole, resembles the letter ‘D’. Doesn’t stand for Daydreaming, but for Danny. And just tilting the head slightly, the letter H shows up. Looking back, the logo definitely resembles my characteristics; the sharpness resembles my innovative ideas that differ from the normal, while the roundedness shows my diligence, balance, and consistency. There you have it. ‘D’ and ‘H’. I’m Danny Huang.
