Whenever I implement real-time occlusion systems, I am reminded that in human-centered Mixed Reality (MR), robust occlusion for spatial accuracy comes at the expense of perceptual discomfort. The computational demands of accurate 3D mapping compromise UX fluidity, raising the question: how do we bridge the gap between spatial anchoring and human perception in MR? Recent breakthroughs in occlusion handling, primarily Vision Pro's vergence gaze tracking and Meta's Scene Understanding API, suggest that the answer lies in combining cognitive ergonomics with scene recognition protocols. As we do, I want to seize the opportunity this convergence presents to revolutionize human-computer interactions in MR.
