Zoomer AI | The Next Path for Zoom Video Inc.

Wanting to hone my skills as an entrepreneur, I applied for Wharton’s very selective Leadership in the Business World summer program.  I took classes learning about finance, marketing, consulting, and operations. For my final project, I had to come up with advice for a company with a recent IPO. I led my group in focusing on Zoom, whose stock price has been falling amidst heavy competition. My research revealed that their revenue is currently decreasing and that Microsoft Teams, which provides a full suite of services, is taking over the video conferencing market. My teammates thought a good approach would be to suggest that Zoom compete in the ‘business suite’ market; however, I was strongly against this since the market is saturated with mighty competitors, such as Microsoft and Google.

I thought: Why not approach this from a design perspective?

First, I identified Zoom's core competitiveness - convenience and user-friendly - and then aimed to maximize this competitive edge while adding new features like AI.  My vision of the next Zoom would feature a product where AI can write meeting summaries or questions about what a speaker says. Then, I turned to my beloved friend - Figma - and created an MVP. My MVP was lauded by MBA students and professors, and our group received third place in the final presentation, scoring full points on the creative supplement section (where I demonstrated the MVP).
